Recent work has seen significant development of methodologies for studying deepwater basins where conventional seismic sequence stratigraphy is limited by uncertain water depths. Innovative new techniques allow 4D restoration of basin palaeobathymetry and consequent detailed facies mapping and Palaeogeographies.
